WRC σημαίνει Ακρόπολις!
The World Rally Championship Program has provoked a
lot of comments during the past years with many arguing that a revised calendar
with an introduction of new rallies would renovate the institution.
Nevertheless, the idea of having a base of classic rallies prevailed and, thus,
made the Rally of Monte Carlo, the Rally of Finland and the Acropolis Rally
something equivalent to the WRC.
Just a year before celebrating the 60th anniversary of
the Acropolis
Rally, both the Organizing Committee and the
participants are ready for this challenge, aiming to carry out a rally worth
waiting for by all WRC fans worldwide.
The Greek recession has inevitably affected the
Acropolis Rally and although the difficulties were very much apparent from the
beginning, it all turned out fine. By following the same successful recipe,
Celeritas has once again found a way to prepare a rally worthy of its legend
and aligned with the new facts. Thus, the 59th Acropolis Rally will be carried
out in three days but with shorter total length. The decision for cutting down
costs had as a result the planning of a route that would not disperse the crews
far from the centre of the Rally and would also make a clever use and planning
of the classic special stages in Peloponnese.
And of course, as Greeks always want to make the
difference, during the first day the “Gods” of the WRC will compete under the
summer moonlight, in an attempt to revive the 2011 night special stage.
The crews will fight in a total of 14 special stages
with the overall kilometers reaching the 306,53. Club Hotel Casino Loutraki
will be once more the hosting venue of the Acropolis Rally Headquarters while
the Service Park will be held at the Engineer
Directorate Camp (Loutraki).
Well, lights are on and the World Rally Championship
crews are ready to battle once again under the Greek sky, side by side with the
crews of the
Greek Championship who will do their best to satisfy
all their fans.
So, let’s move up to the mountains of Peloponnese and prove once more the reason why the
Acropolis Rally forms an integral part of the WRC.
