"Miss Violence" best scenario at the 24th international film festival of Stockholm.

The Greek film "Miss Violence" received the award for the best scenario (Alexandros Avranas and Costas Peroulis) at the 24th international film festival of Stockholm.

Alexandros Avranas' film has also won the silver lion at the 70th film festival of Venice while Themis Panou won the lead actor award.

On her 11th birthday, Angeliki decides to commit suicide by jumping from the balcony of her family’s apartment. Discovered in a pool of blood four stories below, with a smile on her face, Angeliki’s family is resolute in claiming her death as an accident. But with her death the façade that hides the horrible tales of domestic abuse within the family begins to fall apart.
»Miss Violence« could be seen as a continuation of the dark and strange narratives of New Greek cinema, seen in films such as the 2009 Stockholm Film Festival Bronze Horse winner »Dogtooth«, arguably reflecting the country’s bleak political and economic situation. »Miss Violence« competed at the 70th Venice International Film Festival, where director Alexandros Avranas was awarded the Silver Lion for Best Director and actor Themis Panou was awarded the Volpi Cup for Best Actor.
